Bicky grew up in Medberry, North Dakota. The youngest of five children in a town of 20 people.
Their three bedroom house was owned by the Cargill Grain Company, her fathers employer. They had an outdoor biffy and no running water. Her sister Jo and Bicky shared a bed two feet from her parents-an arrangement you might call 1940's birth control.
Bicky says "Obviously we didn't have much but our lives were filled with creative play, music and art" She and her sisters took piano lessons and sang in the church choir.
The wide open spaces of North Dakota provided many opportunities to view design and texture in nature. Bicky holds a degree in Art Education from the UND and went on to teach art in Bismarck and Fargo public and parochial schools. She traveled for five years throughout North Dakota as am Artist in Residence.
She began painting watercolors in 1975 and since that time has branched out into papermaking, structural paper relief, acrylics and collage. Bickey was a member of Gallery 4 in Fargo for 21 years. She was a founding member of the Blank Canvas Gallery in Park Rapids. Her work can be seen in various galleries in North Dakota and Minnesota and online at http://wwwblankcanvasgallery.com
